This is me at Lloyd’s of London. They are the biggest insurance market in the world and I got to see and experience personally the work day of an underwriter and broker. I learned all about insurance and how important of an industry it is. They keep on hand any given day about 80 Billion dollars to pay out claims. I went to 6 different countries in 23 days. Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, Great Britain. Visited 16 different businesses ( Lloyd’s of London being my favorite) and met their the heads of different departments of the companies and learned about business abroad and how to succeed in different cultures around the world. It was absolutely the trip of a lifetime, and I learned more than I ever could have in a classroom. I am officially cultured.
This is also me at the World Trade Organization sitting in the exact same room as top officials from all over the globe. They come to this room to settle disputes about trade and work towards free trade. We sat in this room and had a conference with the head of the communications department of the World Trade Organization. Learned all about international trade and politics from Europe’s point of view, and this was really cool, because in America I would have never been able to experience or heard about how the Europeans think about trade. I was only ever thinking about it the way us Americans think, but now I see it from both sides and I have a better understanding of the field as a whole and why it is so challenging to close on a deal.
