COVID-19 Response
Due to the recent university closures and state-wide quarantine policies, LA Beta has taken many precautions to ensure the safety and health of all of our members.
For the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester, what was remaining of our social calendar has been cancelled or postponed. However, we still plan on hosting our 15th Annual LA Beta Scholarship Endowment Golf Tournament on June 27th and the Balanced Man Scholarship Banquet later in the summer.
The SigEp house is remaining open to all residents who wish to continue living there for the duration of the academic year and throughout the summer. To protect the health of our members and House Director, only brothers will be allowed in the house, only when necessary, and are required to maintain appropriate social distancing at all times. Our food provider, College Chefs, has been working diligently to continue providing individually packaged meals to those staying in Baton Rouge.
To continue interaction among brothers that did return home, our VP of Member Development Philip Marr has worked to form weekly virtual meetups over Zoom for brothers to video chat, hang out, play games, and maintain contact even when they are apart.
We hope that everyone is doing well and learning how to navigate what is expected to be the “new normal” for the foreseeable future. It is important to remember that although we may not be meeting regularly, attending social events, or participating in other fraternal activities, we are still LA Beta SigEps and part of a much larger community. We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy during these confusing times.
